Drink Wine Day! Yea! There really isn’t much to say, I just want to get started with celebrating in all honesty. My bottle of Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc is chilling and will be ready in a bit. Meanwhile, I found a site with some listings for cocktails made with wine (click on the White Wine Mai-Tai below for their posting), in case you’re more of a mixed-drink person than a glass-of-wine person.
While not a true Mai-Tai (a Mai-Tai is neither pink in color nor this simple to create), this drink is nevertheless a delicious and surprisingly potent addition to your bartending repertoire. Here’s the recipe:
1 part clear rum, 1 part white wine, a splash of grenadine
Mix all ingredients together in a cocktail shaker. Pour over a glass full of ice. Garnish with a pineapple wedge or a maraschino cherry.
I have my friend Joleen to thank for introducing me to Kim Crawford’s Sauvignon Blanc, it is delicious and has become my favorite wine. I think the reason is that it has subtle grapefruit notes and I’m still in the grasp of a grapefruit jones, which has been going for over a year now. Seriously, I should buy stock in them or something.
Enjoy! = )
